Short answer: Applications for the 2026-2027 KYK scholarship and student loan are submitted through the Ministry of Youth and Sports service on Türkiye’s e-Government portal, known as e-Devlet. The current GSB announcement links to the application service. The official pages checked do not display a separate closing date, so do not reuse a 2025 deadline. Confirm the live status and timing on the GSB announcement and the e-Government application screen.
What is the KYK scholarship and student loan system?
KYK is the commonly used name for the scholarship and student-loan support administered by Türkiye’s Ministry of Youth and Sports. The scholarship is non-repayable financial support for higher-education students who meet the applicable achievement and financial-need criteria. The student loan is repayable. Both are handled through the same official application process, but the award shown in your result may be a scholarship or a loan.
This guide is for Turkish students, families, citizens studying abroad and international readers. Studying at a Turkish university alone does not establish eligibility; the official service and Ministry rules govern each case.
Where and when do you apply?
The official channel is e-Devlet. Search for “Burs / Öğrenim Kredisi Başvurusu” after signing in, or use the service linked by GSB. Never enter an e-Devlet password on an unofficial website. According to the Ministry’s general information, applications are accepted once each academic year during dates set at the beginning of the academic year. Application, assessment, result and payment processes are managed digitally.
As of 5 October 2026, the featured GSB page identifies the “2026-2027 Academic Year Scholarship/Student Loan Application” and directs users to e-Devlet. The official pages reviewed for this guide do not state a separate deadline. Check the live application screen rather than relying on older articles or social posts. A 2025 timetable is not proof of a 2026 closing date.
Before you start: a practical checklist
The Ministry receives education data from YÖKSİS, Türkiye’s Higher Education Information System. Check that your university, programme, level and student status are correct. If the record is wrong or missing, contact your university’s student affairs office before confirming the application. Applicants should also read every declaration carefully and provide current, accurate social and financial information.
Make sure you can access your personal e-Devlet account.
Check the university and programme information imported from YÖKSİS.
Review your contact, household and financial details.
Read the explanations for both scholarship and loan options.
Confirm that the application has actually been submitted, and retain the confirmation if available.
Students still comparing institutions can browse universities in Türkiye or use the institution search tool. For the wider admissions sequence, see the 2026 YKS placement, registration and next-steps guide.
Who is covered, and who may be ineligible?
The Ministry’s general information lists associate-degree, bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral students among the higher-education levels covered by the scholarship framework. The rules address formal higher education in Türkiye and abroad. Being able to submit a form does not mean an award is automatic; applications are evaluated under the legislation and the information supplied by the student.
Examples on the official ineligibility list include students already receiving a Ministry scholarship or loan; people who have graduated from, or previously received a scholarship or loan at, the education level applied for or a higher level; and recipients of certain scholarship, loan or similar cash support from public bodies specified by law. This is not a substitute for checking the full rules. Review the KYGM general information page for the current list and details relevant to your case.
How to apply through e-Government
Open the official service: Sign in securely to e-Devlet and select the GSB scholarship/student-loan application.
Review education records: Check all data supplied by YÖKSİS. Ask your university to correct an error rather than guessing in the form.
Complete the declarations: Enter the requested personal, household and economic information truthfully.
Read the terms: Understand the distinction between a non-repayable scholarship and a repayable student loan.
Submit and verify: Complete the final confirmation. Opening or partially filling the form is not the same as submitting it.
Track the result: The Ministry publishes allocation results through e-Devlet. Follow the official result service and notices.
The undertaking is a separate, essential step
An allocation result does not by itself activate payment. Students aged 18 or older must approve the undertaking, called a taahhütname, through e-Devlet within the stated period. For a student under 18, a parent first gives guardian approval through the parent’s own e-Devlet account; the student then approves the undertaking through the student’s account. The Ministry states that students who do not approve it on time are not paid.
Students studying abroad may also have a guaranty-document process after receiving an allocation. The Ministry says qualifying documents are checked electronically through the Union of Turkish Notaries system and do not need to be mailed separately. Failure to complete the required guaranty step prevents payment. Because individual screens may differ, follow the instructions displayed in your own result and approval workflow.
2026 monthly scholarship and loan amounts
In its announcement dated 5 January 2026, GSB stated that the monthly scholarship/loan amount for 2026 is TRY 4,000 for undergraduate students, TRY 8,000 for master’s students and TRY 12,000 for doctoral students. These are the rates announced for the 2026 calendar year. If GSB issues a later change for another period, the newer official announcement takes precedence.
For first-time recipients, the Ministry’s general information says entitlement is calculated from October, the beginning of the academic year for which the student applied, and continues within the normal study period subject to the rules. Monthly payments are made between the 6th and 10th according to the final digit of the student’s Turkish identity number.
What happens after the result?
Check the official result page to see whether you received a scholarship or a loan. Read the undertaking before accepting a loan, complete every approval by the deadline shown in your account, and keep your education record current after a transfer or programme change.
The Ministry may discontinue a scholarship after academic failure. If eligible, the student can request a loan for the remaining normal study period.
Common mistakes to avoid
Treating last year’s application dates as the 2026 deadline.
Submitting before correcting an inaccurate YÖKSİS record.
Providing incomplete or inaccurate household and financial declarations.
Assuming that submitting the form guarantees a scholarship.
Missing the undertaking approval after an award is announced.
Entering e-Devlet credentials on a non-government website.
If you also need accommodation, read the 2026-2027 KYK dormitory application guide. Dormitory and scholarship/loan applications are separate services; completing one does not complete the other.
