The short answer: who is this placement for?
ÖSYM has announced its 2026 placement process into Turkish-medium higher-education programmes for students whose enrolment was ended after they did not successfully complete a compulsory foreign-language preparatory class. It is not a new university placement process for every preparatory-year student. Confirm your own enrolment status and the eligibility rules in the 2026 guide.
Applications are accepted in AİS from 15:30 on October 19, 2026 until 23:59 on November 2, 2026. Do not leave the work until the final minutes. Read the eligibility conditions and programme table first. Entering choices on a screen may not by itself complete the transaction, so read the system’s final confirmation carefully.
Check eligibility against the official record first
Where should you verify official information?
The guide sets out principles for students who attended the compulsory preparatory class of the programme in which they were placed, did not complete that class successfully, and whose enrolment was consequently ended. Saying “I failed prep” is not enough on its own. Your university decision, enrolment history and the guide’s conditions must be considered together.
Do not try to settle an uncertain status through social-media replies. Your university’s student-affairs office can explain documents and status in your individual record, while ÖSYM’s guide governs the placement process. Check details such as your programme and the reason recorded for the action before assuming that a choice list applies to you.
What should you prepare before opening AİS?
Access AİS with your own Turkish identity number and candidate password. Never save that password on a shared computer, and sign out when you are finished. Personal details, contact fields and the choices displayed in the application are your responsibility, so review them as they appear on the screen.
Allow time to move between the programme tables, conditions and notes in the guide. A programme name alone is not enough for an informed choice. Language of instruction, campus, preparatory requirements, special conditions and the study structure can change the decision. Do not add an unsuitable option simply because you are worried about having no placement.
How can you build a more careful list?
Start by listing the cities in which you could realistically continue, including travel and accommodation circumstances. Then check the academic field, course plan and Turkish-medium character of each programme on the relevant university pages. A familiar title does not automatically mean that the programme fits your needs.
Do not copy someone else’s list. The curriculum, campus setting and daily cost can differ for the same subject at different universities. When speaking with family, put your academic interests, budget and travel needs in the same discussion. That makes the order of choices more sustainable than a list based only on name recognition.
Why are the guide’s conditions decisive?
Where should you verify official information?
The 2026 guide contains the principles, quotas and any specific notes for this process. A screenshot from a previous year, an old forum post or general YKS advice cannot replace the current rule. Read the footnotes attached to programme rows and the warnings about finalising an application.
Before submitting, compare the order shown in AİS with your own notes. Then read the confirmation and information messages presented by the system. If an amendment or further step is available, act only within the announced period. Completing the review early is the simplest way to reduce the risk of technical trouble on the last day.
A calm checklist for the final day
First confirm that you are eligible through the guide and your institutional record. Then review each choice’s teaching language, city and conditions on its official page. Check the contact details in AİS; when the transaction is complete, read the on-screen result and retain a record for your own use where needed.
Follow only ÖSYM announcements for the method and timing of results. This guide helps you prepare from the current official notice; it does not replace an individual eligibility assessment. Ask your university about your enrolment status and use ÖSYM’s official channels for a rule about the application.
Keep two decisions separate
It is easy to mix two questions in this process: what has happened to your present university enrolment, and which programme you would want in a new placement. The first is answered by documents and the institutional record; the second requires personal planning. Clarifying the enrolment position before comparing programmes is a more reliable order. A choice made only under time pressure can create another adjustment problem in the next term.
On each programme page, look at when courses are taught, how practical work or placements are arranged, and where the campus is located. These details may shape everyday study more than the programme title. Read the university’s own academic calendar, student-affairs notices and department information directly. Do not turn an unresolved point into a definite note simply because a post online sounds confident.
When your list is ready, write a short reason beside every choice: academic interest, city, budget, travel or family support. Those notes help when similar programmes compete for a position. Keep your password private after applying and treat unsolicited links with caution. During the preference period, an update matters only when ÖSYM announces it through an official channel.
