Applications for the second 2026 TÜBİTAK 2205 Undergraduate Scholarship call are open from 5 to 27 October 2026. Students apply online through e-BİDEB. This is not a general scholarship for everyone enrolled at a Turkish university. It targets high-ranking students in specified science, social science and humanities degrees, along with students who earned eligible science olympiad or research competition awards.
The eligibility rules matter more than the name of the scholarship. International readers should note the citizenship restriction at the outset: the standard routes require Turkish citizenship or Blue Card status under Law No. 5901. A foreign student who has neither status should not assume that studying in Türkiye is enough.
Application dates for the 2026 second call
TÜBİTAK's published calendar opens the second call on 5 October and closes it on 27 October 2026. Applications are submitted through the BİDEB Application and Monitoring System. Check the live portal for the closing hour and any system notice before you start.
For successful applicants in this autumn round, the award is started retrospectively from October after the decision is announced. The call says payments cover all 12 months of the year and may continue until June in the year when the normal degree period ends.
Who is eligible to apply?
An applicant must be a Turkish citizen or a Blue Card holder covered by Law No. 5901 and must not have completed a bachelor's degree before. Preparatory-year students, current undergraduates and students who transferred may apply when they also meet the continuing-award rules.
The YKS ranking route
Students using the university entrance ranking route must be registered in one of the listed full-time undergraduate programs in Türkiye. They must also have ranked within the top 25,000 in the specified YKS score category before the normal duration of their main degree expires. The call uses Y-SAY for quantitative programs and TYT for the listed verbal and equal-weight programs. That wording may differ from what students expect from regular admissions, so use the current call document rather than a social-media summary.
The olympiad and project competition routes
Separate routes cover medal winners in TÜBİTAK's National Science Olympiads and students with eligible results in named secondary-school research competitions. Some international olympiad and project award holders studying abroad can also qualify. Those studying outside Türkiye face an additional university-ranking obligation: their institution must have appeared in the subject top 100 of QS or Times Higher Education in at least one of the three years before the application.
Eligible undergraduate majors
For the YKS ranking route, the named programs are Anthropology, Archaeology, Archaeology and Art History, Astronomy and Space Sciences, Biology, Geography, Philosophy, Physics, Theology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Art History, Sociology, History, and Turkish Language and Literature.
A similar-sounding degree title may not count. Compare the official Turkish name on your student record with the call list. You can browse universities in Türkiye and compare profiles through the institution finder, but TÜBİTAK decides eligibility. Students planning a future application can use the YKS preference tool for research, not as proof of scholarship eligibility.
Monthly scholarship amounts in 2026
The current TÜBİTAK award table sets monthly amounts by YKS rank: TRY 19,500 for ranks 1-1,000; TRY 14,500 for 1,001-5,000; TRY 11,000 for 5,001-10,000; TRY 7,250 for 10,001-20,000; and TRY 6,000 for 20,001-25,000. Awards tied to olympiad medals or project competitions vary by competition level and result. Applicants in those groups should match their exact achievement against the official 2026 award table.
Receiving support from another organisation does not necessarily cause an automatic rejection, but it must be declared. If another award starts later, the student must notify BİDEB within 15 days. A 2205 recipient cannot hold another BİDEB scholarship at the same time.
How to apply through e-BİDEB
Sign in to e-BİDEB and select 2205 under programs open for application.
Review your identity, contact, university, degree and YKS records.
Upload a Turkish or English document if the system cannot retrieve a required record online.
Read the declaration and program obligations before submitting.
Open the application again, confirm its status and retain a copy of the record.
The call states that most applicants are not asked to upload documents at the first stage because education and examination records can be checked online. That does not mean missing information can be ignored. Where a record cannot be retrieved, the applicant must supply the relevant evidence.
Checklist before submitting
Does the official Turkish title of your degree match the call?
Are your YKS score category and ranking displayed correctly?
If you are beyond the first year, is your GPA at least 2.50/4.00 or 65/100?
Does the system show you as an active student?
Have you declared support received from another organisation?
Can you receive notices at the email address in your profile?
To keep the scholarship, students must remain active and maintain the required GPA after the preparatory year. If the average falls below the threshold, payment is suspended until the condition is met again. A change of university, degree, enrolment status or other relevant student information must be reported to BİDEB within 15 days.
Questions students often ask
Can a first-year undergraduate apply?
Yes. A first-year student may apply if the citizenship or Blue Card, degree, ranking and other call conditions are met.
Can preparatory-year or continuing students apply?
Yes. Continuing students must satisfy the active-enrolment and GPA rules. A preparatory student can receive support for the first language-preparation year, with payment paused after an unsuccessful year until undergraduate classes begin.
Can I receive this award with a KYK scholarship?
The call requires other support to be declared and explicitly prohibits holding another BİDEB scholarship at the same time. Give a current and accurate declaration in your application. Our KYK scholarship and loan guide explains the separate KYK process.
Must every applicant upload documents?
No. TÜBİTAK may retrieve education and exam data from connected systems. Documents are required when the necessary information cannot be displayed or verified online.
When will second-call results be announced?
The official pages reviewed for this guide do not state a 2026/2 result date. Applicants should monitor e-BİDEB and the 2205 program page rather than relying on an estimated date.
